Going green improves employee morale

Does ‘going green’ improve employee morale? A new study suggests that employees are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs if they are working for a company that is perceived to be “green.” The financial performance of companies failed to correlate with employee happiness.

It ain’t necessarily so

Contented employees perform well, unhappy ones don’t. It seems simple enough. But now, Nathan Bowling at Wright State University, Ohio, has upset the party. His new analysis suggests the relationship between satisfaction and performance at work is largely spurious, with both factors having more to do with an employee’s personality and self-esteem than they have to do with each other.

Simplicity lowers productivity

A new study, looking at the effects of work design on employee attitudes and productivity, suggests that trying to increase efficiency by simplifying job responsibilities might lead to lower job satisfaction and, ultimately, lower productivity.
